Mick Moore joined in 1964, being posted to Tripoli, then Benghazi with A Company. He then moved to Colchester, and completed the Hong Kong, Malaysia and British Honduras trips. Like many others of his era he completed several tours in Northern Ireland. He also served in Germany and Berlin, ending his 22 year engagement in Osnabruck as Signals Warrant Officer. Selected for the Long Service List, he was posted to the Army Air Corps. On promotion to WO1 in 1990, he went to a NATO HQ in the Netherlands for six years; he was awarded the MBE for his outstanding work there. He finally left the Army in 2002 after 37 distinguished years.

In civilian life Mick initially became a motor cycle instructor, but quit after a trying day with a particularly stupid student. Mick disabled the student’s bike, telling him that he had just saved his life. He then took up a quieter role with the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Army Cadet Force. It is good to see him here today.
