GREEN HOWARD PAVIOUR
On 18 October, at the National Memorial Arboretum (NMA), the commemorative paviours, or memorial stones, of many Regiments were dedicated at an informal ceremony. The formal unveiling will take place this Friday.
The Green Howards paviour is shown individually. Another photo shows the Green Howard paviour alongside those of the Yorkshire Regiment and Prince of Wales’s Own Regiment of Yorkshire (PWO). The Duke of Wellingtons (DWR) did not join the scheme.
MAJOR LOUDOUN-SHAND VC
Another photo shows the memorial stone for Major Stewart Loudoun-Shand VC. Unlike those of the other Green Howard Somme VCs whose memorial stones have been placed in their home towns, Major Loudoun-Shand’s stone is at the NMA because he was born abroad, in his case in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka).
