Fellow Green Howards

It is my sad duty to inform everyone that Lieutenant Colonel Ted Hodgetts MBE died peacefully today at home, where he wanted to be, surrounded by his family.

Ted was taken into hospital on Saturday when he was found to be suffering from a number of conditions, but not Covid related. Lucid and cheerful to the end, although needing continuous oxygen, he wished to return home, which he achieved yesterday.

Colonel Hodgetts was a special man and a very special Green Howard. Many of us, of every rank, were inspired by and benefitted from his larger-than-life presence, enthusiasm and professional encouragement.

The Green Howards Association will remember him at its meeting this Saturday.

Due to Covid restrictions, the funeral service will be for family and invited friends only. A Memorial service will be held in June after all lockdown restrictions are lifted, when Green Howards can attend and celebrate Ted’s life; details to follow later for this.

Ted’s daughter Julie and family would like it known that this is the formal announcement and they do not condone the previous Facebook entry.

Julie has requested no calls at this stage, please, but cards and messages may be sent to her and the family at:
